PII Review Guidance for Clients

What PII IsPersonally Identifiable Information (PII) is any data that can identify, contact, locate, or materially increase risk to an individual when exposed, especially when combined with other business or personal records.
Common PII Types
  • Social Security numbers and tax IDs
  • Banking, routing, account, IBAN, and payment data
  • Passport, driver license, and government ID data
  • Names, addresses, DOBs, phone numbers, and email addresses
  • Employee, customer, payroll, HR, medical, or insurance records
Why Review and Remove ItUnneeded PII increases breach impact, compliance exposure, identity-theft risk, and internal misuse risk. Findings should be validated, removed if no longer needed, moved to approved secure storage if retention is required, and protected with encryption and access controls.

Offline Computer Addendum

Optional: upload the client Devices export here. The tool will compare every device in that file against the Sensitive Documents Report uploaded above, then add only the computers missing from the scan results to the Offline Computer Addendum. You can also still upload a manual offline list if needed.
